Speakerbox is a live broadcasting tool designed for the connected generations.
They’re connected because they want to interact, all the time, with everyone. TV used to be a one-way broadcast, but now, everyone can be a broadcaster, and everyone can talk back.
The media revolution is about creating the tools and platforms to support what everyone wants now. Speakerbox is a platform for a rich viewing experience, and a toolset for influencers to build the own audiences and deliver value to sponsors and media companies. We see the future of the media business, and we are going to be part of the interactive future.
WHAT WE’RE BUILDING
Speakerbox is building a multi-platform production and distribution technology for the media industry. Our system is made of apps that are designed to handle live video: one for capturing content on a mobile; one for interactive viewing; and one for behind-the-scenes production, audience interaction, clip distribution, and project oversight.
Here’s our product video: vimeo.com/185608493. Our business model is B2B and we’re focused on the sports media industry. Our founders come from media, communications, and technology. We have three customers, more projects in the pipeline, and our third seed investment round closing shortly. We are a team of seven, with four building the tech and three working on business development.
We need a Head of Apps, someone with experience to take control of the app-building and make sure we can meet our customer expectations and respond to opportunities in the market — because there are so many opportunities we could take advantage of, if we only had greater strength in the app development department.
We are shortly pivoting from a focus on iOS development to hybrid development, so we are looking for a lead developer who is accustomed to projects in which these things are mixed. If you’re the person we’re looking for, you can create an effective strategy to balance the various needs.
WHO WE WANT TO WORK WITH
We are a startup, so every week we all have to find the balance between doing whatever it takes to meet immediate goals, and laying foundations for the future. We want you to have proven experience at shepherding projects and teams through that phase of a project.
You will get a lot of autonomy, and you have to be willing to make the most of it. You’re there to take responsibility for the parts of the work that no one else can do, take risks, and give the best of yourself. And we’re there to back you up.
Experience working with realtime content going through cloud services like AWS or Azure is beneficial. Experience with media streaming using Wowza, and some UX skills are good to have. English is the language of this office, so you must be comfortable working in it.
We are hoping to hire someone for the long term, potentially someone who is awarded some equity. If you are looking for an opportunity to grow into an important position in an interesting startup, this job may be just right for you.
HOW TO APPLY
You can send a CV or a LinkedIn link. Include links to apps you have worked on, either professionally or as a hobby project, and a description of your exact contribution to those projects. And please write an email to let us know what interests you about this job, what you have to offer, and in what way you want to expand your skills and responsibilities in the future. As I said above, we want to add team members for the long term, not just people to do a job in the short term, so let me know who you are and what you want — it has to be a good fit on both sides.
